Where old meets new

The seam is what people notice

An addition can be framed and finished perfectly, but if the masonry where it meets the original house doesn't match, it reads as an addition forever. Getting stone, brick and mortar right is what makes it look like it was always there.

We work from a sample of your existing material where possible, tie new footings and veneer into the old structure properly, and finish entrances, steps and porches to match.

Stone masonry addition under construction, new roofing and stonework tying into the original house

New stonework built to read as part of the original house, not an addition bolted onto it.

Matching what's already there

Stone and mortar are harder to match than they look

Stone colour, coursing pattern and mortar joint width all vary between eras and suppliers. Where possible we source from a sample of your existing material, and where an exact match isn't available, we pick the closest option and place it where the transition reads intentionally.

New veneer gets tied into sound backup wall or new footings — never just glued to whatever's behind it.

Entrance masonry, steps and railings finished as one cohesive front elevation.

Finishing the entrance

Steps, walls and walkway as one job

A front entrance usually involves steps, a landing, low walls and the walkway leading up to it — we treat it as one coordinated finish rather than separate patches poured on different days.

Railings, lighting and address markers are coordinated with whichever trade supplies them so the concrete and masonry work is ready when they show up.

Common questions

Before you call

What homeowners ask most before we quote a masonry project.

Can you match my home's existing stone or brick exactly?

Often, yes, especially if we can source from the original supplier or a similar batch. Where an exact match isn't available, we'll show you options and place the closest one where it reads intentionally.

How much does masonry work cost?

It depends heavily on material, area and existing condition. We assess it on site, then give you one fixed price in writing, free of charge.

Do you do repointing on older homes?

Yes — we match mortar colour and joint profile so repointed sections blend with the surrounding original brick or stone rather than standing out.

Can you build the steps and porch for my addition?

Yes, in concrete or matched to a stamped or stone finish elsewhere on the property. See our stamped concrete page for pattern options.

Do I need a permit for masonry work?

Straightforward veneer, repointing and steps usually don't. Anything structural — like a new foundation wall or footing — will need engineering and a permit, which we'll flag at the estimate.

What areas do you service?

We're based in Etobicoke and cover Toronto and the wider GTA. Call and ask if you're not sure your site is in range.
